Hudson River – New York City | Leica M-E, Leica Summilux-M 35mm
I woke up today to find out that the company was sending me home a day early off rotation. BONUS. Since I finished my last flight in Teterboro the company booked me on a flight out of La Guardia Airport through Atlanta to get me home. I made this photograph on our initial climbout as we were heading west over the Hudson River. The light was not great as you can see and was not an optimum time of day.
Duane, you know I joke around with you because I’m comfortable doing so and you being a Marine means nothing because you never fly into Philly.
This is a little more serious. I have studied every image you posted since…forget time, neither of us need that reminder but a long time. There is a certain way you SEE your subject matter and a certain way you FRAME it to make the photo. This is great but for me, looking at the photos and reading the words….there exist an emotional side to you in your work that is unmistakable. It is so different from what I do that it allows me to see things that I would never pay attention too. I enjoy it….keep up the good work my friend….

Gosh Don! You know how to bring a Marine to tears sometimes! Thank you for the nice compliment. You know I’ve experimented a bunch, at times trying to duplicate what others do, even the “RAW” look that I see on the street. But when I sit back and look at how I’ve processed those images I end up hitting the Reset button and just do it “My” way.
I’ve come to realize that I’m the only one that really matters if I like what I’ve created. Yet, I care that what I “publish” here on my blog must pass muster. Sometimes I don’t always know if I have but the audience here has been an incredible judge as to what they like and at least gives me the motivation to continue improving my “art”.

I’m know of Paris Island and it isn’t in France but much more familiar with a place called Quantico.

Thanks Duane. Ya know….I forgot the name of that other place but I’ll be sure to get the post down there.
On another note, I was using Rogers 240 and it froze again. I tried everything but it’s a brick. The Mono ……you’ll love it….very sweet.
