This is Butch, our Springer Spaniel. I grabbed this shot as he was enjoying a relaxing evening. If you’re not familiar with the “field” bred American Springer Spaniel, then you wouldn’t know that this is a rare position for him.
You see, even though he’s 8 years old, he still only knows two speeds: sleep and wide open! As you can see he’s closer to sleep than what he’s normally up to:
Butch is a Pine Shadows Springer Spaniel. They’re in Brainerd, Minnesota and we traveled there in February 2006 to pick him up. They have an incredible breeding and training program. Plus they’re endorsed by Orvis.
This is what Butch really likes to do and as you can see he knows what he’s doing! It’s all about the birds.
Then at the end of the day he finally turns the motor off:
