I took both of my sons to the Green Energy Park located in Dillsboro, North Carolina.  My youngest son is very interested in the Blacksmith trade and he attended his first class at this facility two weeks ago.  I was unable to take him then but was excited to take him today.  I knew I’d have a chance to grab a few photographs and sure enough I filled two 8 gig cards and ran through one of my two batteries.

What’s not so easy to see in these B&W photos is how red the end of the metal he’s working with.  I made some adjustments in Lightroom’s B&W Mix sliders to at least enhance what detail is there.

Brock Martin was their instructor today and he did a wonderful job teaching and demonstrating blacksmithing techniques.

What’s really special about today is I had both of my sons with me and I have several photos with them working together.  Plus tomorrow is my youngest son’s birthday and today was how he wanted to celebrate.

Tomorrow we’ll go to his favorite restaurant, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro.
