I’m on the road this week working and found myself with a layover in Los Angeles this past Wednesday (07/29) and a stay at the Beverly Hills Hilton. The hotel is only a couple miles from the Los Angeles Leica Store and with a few hours free in the afternoon I took an Uber ride to pay a visit. I was interested in Leica’s new Monochrom digital rangefinder along with their new 28mm Summilux lens. Right after entering the store James Agnew, the general manager, met and welcomed me to the store. Of course he asked if there was anything he could do for me and I said I had the afternoon off and was hoping just to hang out and enjoy seeing the store gallery and a chance to see the new Monochrom.

James was very interested in learning more about me and I felt a bit taken back that he would want to know about me but then I quickly realized that as a fellow Leica shooter I was another spokesperson for the company. James made me feel like family and I had access to handle and shoot with any of the camera equipment there. Of course I took the opportunity to shoot with the new Monochrom and attached the 28 Summilux to my Leica M-E.
James also introduced me to the store’s other staff members and even spent a few minutes speaking with Seth who works with the Hollywood movie producers in the use of Leica’s Cine lens line.
I’d like to thank James and his crew for making my visit a wonderful experience and confirming my confidence in the relationship Leica has with its customers. I’m looking forward to the next time I get back to LA for a visit to the LA Leica Store.
