The main reason why I photograph with a Leica camera:

“I want simplification, not amplification or complication…I just want light controls … because photography is about light.” – Thorsten Overgaard

“A camera that gives me the joy of ownership and the joy of shooting is much more important than one with the highest number of megapixels or highest ISO performance.” – Yukio Uchida

“A great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed.” ― Ansel Adams

“You just have to live and life will give you pictures.” – Henri Cartier-Bresson

Thought I’d start my first blog post with news I received today from Ricoh that my recent image entry to their 11th Annual Ricoh Photo Contest has been selected for a ”Performance Award” out of 2401 entries.  Plus my photo was selected to be part of their Ricoh Photo Calendar for 2012.

  1. An iconic image and beautifully done in black and white. To me, I could be looking at an image from one of Mark Twain’s stories. Superbly seen and finished.

Congratulations! Your win is well deserved!

  2. Thank you for the nice comments B.B.

Really beautiful composition. I love the placement of the ripples from the fishing line. I could look at this every day. Congrats on your win!

    1. Thanks weedimageoftheday!

  9. Congratulations! A winning photo in everyway. Amazing cloud formation that seems to brew a storm in contrast to the calm, even playful waters below. Reminded me of the amazing Texan sky I see everyday…more when the weather is throwing a tantrum! Cool…

    1. Thanks island traveler for the nice comments. I lived in Fort Worth for a couple years and I too miss those Texas skies.

  10. Well done, Duane! It’s a cracker of a photograph; beautifully composed, sharp focus, like the B/W almost sepia look and the content is relaxed and serene! Looks like I’ve found another cracker of a blog to follow!
